About Kanlabo [http://kenchiku-seisan.jp]
Founded in April 2022 at Shimane University, Kanlabo is a laboratory focused on human factors in architecture and urban design. The lab advances architectural research by combining spatial composition with data-driven and environmental analysis to tackle current challenges in the built environment.

We develop design knowledge that links human experience with environmental and urban conditions, focusing on shrinking cities, heritage contexts, and climate-responsive design. Working closely with local communities and regional partners, the lab approaches sustainability as a place-based practice grounded in social and environmental realities.

We welcome students, researchers and collaborators interested in exploring these two complementary research approaches:
