About Kanlabo
Launched in April 2022 at Shimane University, Japan, Kanlabo is all about exploring the future of human-centered design in architecture and urban planning. We're mixing tech with design to create smarter, more inspiring spaces.
Kanlabo at Shimane University’s Department of Architecture Design is all about discovering how people connect with buildings and the environment. We explore how light, wind, and visuals influence our senses, blending tech with hands-on fieldwork to help architects create spaces that improve lives. With a bilingual team, we’re always collaborating with local and international partners to push boundaries and blur the lines between academia and industry, creating real-world impact through innovative design.
Our Approach
At Kanlabo, we encourage students to dive into what excites them, getting ready for future roles in architecture and design. Right now, our teaching focuses on three key areas:
